Mission
The Bubs Foundation’s mission since its inception in 1991 has been to awaken in young people a passion for expression and learning through music. It has provided financial grants to middle and high schools to augment underfunded programs. With the relentless need to reduce public school budgets, music education programs have been substantially reduced or eliminated. The Bubs Foundation has donated over $50,000 in grants to 60 music programs in and around Boston including Salem, Everett, Medford, Somerville, Arlington, Waltham, Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth, and others, as well in Boston (Roxbury and Dorchester) itself.

With the help of the Bubs Foundation, school programs have been able to purchase multicultural music, choral robes, and critical equipment such as keyboards and folding risers. Through our grant program, thousands of students have expanded opportunities to enjoy small ensemble and choral singing while building performance and teamwork skills, self-esteem and personal growth.

At the start of our second decade, Foundation trustees made a strategic decision to take a more focused approach to leveraging the principal tenet of the Beelzebubs organization, namely "Fun Through Song." An after-school music education program -- "Be the Music" -- has been implemented in several Boston area schools.  Teachers in the program are members of current collegiate a cappella groups and others with a passion for music education.  The Bubs Foundation intends to expand the program into additional schools and community agencies.

    History
The Bubs Foundation was formed by alumni of The Beelzebubs, an award-winning a cappella singing group founded in 1963 at Tufts University. The Foundation was formed because members believed that the experience of a cappella music at Tufts and previously in high school made a significant and positive impact on their lives and they wanted to help make a difference in the lives of a new generation.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization with an all-volunteer staff. Endowed funds were established by its founders and have grown each year. It is governed by a set of by-laws and a Board of Trustees consisting of 15-20 members. The President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected board positions. The majority of current board members are members of The Beelzebubs Alumni Association.
